Darwin Fact Sheet

Location At the northern end of Australia. The closest Australian city to South East Asia.
Description Darwin is a modern, bustling city of approximately 90,000 people. It is the northern most capital city in Australia and due to it's close proximity to South East Asia, it has a multicultural population. With a new international airport which sees daily flights from southern Australian capitals as well as Singapore, it is a good entry point to the best barramundi fishing spots in Australia, as well as many remote locations for bluewater fishing such as Cape Don, Vanderlin Island and Dundee Beach.
Fish available As well as fish available in outlying areas, Darwin harbour often provides good fishing for the following species: barramundi, golden snapper, black jewfish, pikey bream, threadfin salmon, queenfish and Spanish mackeral. Black marlin can be caught off Bathurst Island, within 100 km of Darwin and nearby lagoons and rivers have some of the best barramundi fishing in Australia.
